Overview
Community Crime Solvers ("we", "us") operates a public investigation platform. Case and evidence content on the platform is public by design. This policy explains what information we collect from visitors and registered users, how it is used, and how it is protected.
Information We Collect
- Account information: when you sign in via Google or Microsoft, we receive your name, email address, and account identifier from your identity provider.
- Usage data: pages viewed, device/browser type, and approximate location (via IP address), used for analytics and security monitoring.
- Submitted content: tips, messages, and evidence you submit through the platform, which may be reviewed and published as part of an investigation.
- Audit logs: we keep an immutable record of actions taken on cases and evidence (e.g. uploads, edits) for accountability and security.
How We Use Information
- To provide and secure the chat and submission features
- To investigate and respond to abuse, fraud, or security incidents
- To improve the platform based on aggregate usage patterns
- To communicate with you about your account or submissions
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We may share information with service providers who help us operate the platform (cloud hosting, authentication, file scanning, email delivery), and where required by law.
Data Retention & Security
Account and audit data is retained for as long as needed for the purposes described above. Uploaded files are scanned for malware before being made available, and stored encrypted at rest.
